Is your home insurance provides full cover?
When you take a home insurance (insurance is insurance that pays for damage or loss of personal effects of an individual while they are inside the house of this person.) East a good idea to make sure that your coverage is “new for old”.
This means that if you have a damaged item replaced or stolen, the insurer must pay enough for you to buy a new version.
Some policies do not “compensation” to cover, taking into account the wear and tear and therefore pay less.
But there are some catches to be taken into account. Many policies will not provide new ones for things like cover old bedding, and even pedal bike. Check your manual for policy exclusions.
Another problem is when insurers agree to cover the new era on the basis they may decide to suppliers to replace lost or broken.
For example, if you had a laptop stolen, it would be able to get a replacement machine – with the same value – the insurer of their choice, rather than the same model again, or the cash equivalent .
And keep in mind that just to cover former may be more expensive than a policy of compensation – even though many companies now offer new for old as standard.
What is the insurance matter?
The insurance covers loss or damage to the contents of your belongings at your home regardless of the cause (other than personal damage).
In this context, “possession” means basically anything that is not permanently attached to the structure of your home. Therefore the insurance does not cover their kitchen units, but their furniture. All permanently fixed to the structure of your home is covered by insurance (also known as the insurance of buildings.)
The most common cause of damage is theft, accidents at home, broke and exhaust pipes. But if you can still claim if the Vandals, storms, fires or floods, falling trees or explosion, damage to your property. Even damage to the contents from a vehicle or aircraft crashing into your home is covered. In fact, it is difficult to imagine circumstances in which the loss or damage would not be assured – Oh, yes, there – the deliberate ill-treatment. You can not deliberately damage the content and hope to make a valid claim!
Many policies will ensure accidental damage caused by it. However, the extent of coverage can vary between policies. So check what is included. Ask about the videos, televisions and computers, and what about the damage to mirrors and glass in general? You may also have to pay an additional option to the insured, but it might be worth. (Applications for these may be valid only if the items are in the house when they are damaged.)
Valuables such as jewelry, antiques or works of art is almost certain to be specifically mentioned in the policy. This often applies to any item worth over £ 2000. (2000 pounds is only a guide – please do not specifically limit the valuables in their policy and that these limits vary between insurers.) There will be a charge to secure these valuable items listed on the basis of this they are and value.
Also check your belongings stored in the garage or garden shed covered. And what about garden furniture? Insured? You will need to specifically ask these questions.
It may also be able to extend its coverage to “all risks”, which then covers any possessions (and sometimes a little money) you take with you when you leave your home. Check the policy proposal.
Most policies also offer to secure the contents of your freezer in case of damage due to interruption of electricity supply. This coverage is usually an additional option. Have you tried to add the value of food in the freezer? It is likely that you’ll be surprised how much it is!
Beware of policies that provide coverage on a “new for old” basis. This means that regardless of the condition or age or item before it is damaged or missing, the insurance company to pay enough to allow a new item of same or similar specification, you can buy. This will prevent a lot of potential worsening of your insurer. If the insurance is a “replacement cost” basis unless payment will be reduced to reflect the age and condition of the item. As you would expect to cover in a “replacement value” basis is cheaper “new for old”, but we think the additional benefit is worth it.
Finally, many good policies also include liability insurance. This is the type of insurance you might need if someone came to his house, tripped over a toy and wounded in the fall. You can make a claim against him and, as you probably know, these claims may be large.
